Nancy A. Balin, MD, FACS
Eye surgeon Nancy Balin, MD, FACS, of the Springfield, Massachusetts area, received her medical degree from the prominent University of Pennsylvania School of medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. She then completed a Fellowship in cornea and anterior segment surgery with highest honors.
After completing her chief residency, she began a private practice in Northampton, Massachusetts and established the Balin Eye & Laser Center, a complete eye care facility.
As the director of the Balin Eye & Laser Center, Dr. Balin's mission was to create a full service facility that would provide the highest quality, most technologically advanced medical care to the residents of Hampshire, Hampden, and Franklin counties. The Balin Eye & Laser Center is located in Northampton, Massachusetts. We also have satellite offices, allowing our patients to get a laser vision correction screening in Springfield and Ware, Massachusetts for their convenience.
Dr. Balin's expertise and dedication to quality medical care have earned her unprecedented recognition throughout Western Massachusetts. Nathan P. Heilman, O.D.
Dr. Heilman received his undergraduate education from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2003 graduating with Distinction. Prior to joining the Balin Eye and Laser Center, he was awarded an Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship leading him to serve four years of active duty in the Unites States Navy. While in the Navy, he functioned as Chairman of Optometric Services at the Naval Health Clinic in Great Lakes, IL and was an Adjunt Clinical Professor for the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Heilman specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fitting, and ocular disease management. He also works closely with Dr. Balin in the co-management of cataract and refractive surgery, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and neurologic and vascular diseases of the eye.

Tracy Haradon, O.D.
Dr. Haradon graduated Cum Laude from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then received her Doctor of Optometry from New England College of Optometry graduating with honors. Dr. Haradon performed her residency at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital where she diagnosed and managed a variety of ocular pathologies. She served as Clinical Assistant Instructor at the New England Eye Institute in Boston, MA. She performed Externships at the Northampton V.A. Medical Center, Northampton, MA. and the Eye Foundation of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT.
Dr. Haradon has been providing the highest quality optometric care at the Balin Eye & Laser Center for over 11 years. She performs comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fitting, and pre and postoperative care of cataract and refractive surgical patients.
